Европа се подготвя за по-ранен и потенциално по-тежък грипен сезон, след като нов щам на вируса започна да се разпространява седмици преди обичайното. Данните са от нов доклад на Европейския център за превенция и контрол на заболяванията (ECDC).
Новият подвариант H3N2 K води ранното разпространение
Здравните власти отчитат, че случаите на грип в ЕС, Исландия, Лихтенщайн и Норвегия се появяват 3–4 седмици по-рано, отколкото през последните две години. Основният двигател е новият щам Influenza A (H3N2) subclade K, който вече се разпространява и във Великобритания, където също се прогнозира по-тежък сезон.
Според ECDC е рано да се каже дали в континентална Европа сезонът ще бъде по-тежък, но ниската имунизация и по-високият брой случаи могат да доведат до значително по-голям натиск върху здравните системи.
„Времето е критично“, предупреждават експертите
„Виждаме увеличаване на случаите много по-рано от обичайното. Това означава, че времето е ключово“, казва Едоардо Колцани, експерт по респираторни вируси в ECDC.
Затова агенцията препоръчва ваксинация без забавяне, особено за:
- възрастни хора
- бременни жени
- пациенти с хронични заболявания
- хора с отслабен имунитет
- медицински персонал
- живеещи в домове за възрастни и други колективни структури
Ще действа ли тазгодишната ваксина?
Ваксините срещу грип се актуализират ежегодно, за да следват еволюцията на вируса. Тази година в състава е включен щам от групата H3N2, тъй като миналия сезон той беше сред основните причинители на заболявания в Северното полукълбо.
Новият подвариант H3N2 subclade K обаче се различава достатъчно, за да не е ясно доколко наличните ваксини ще го покриват.
Въпреки това експертите подчертават, че имунизацията намалява риска от тежко боледуване, предпазва уязвимите групи и облекчава натоварването на болниците през зимата.
Допълнителни мерки в лечебните заведения
ECDC призовава клиники, болници и социални домове да предприемат мерки за контрол на инфекцията, включително:
- носене на маски от персонала и посетителите по време на активна циркулация на вируса
- повишена хигиена
- бърза изолация на пациенти със симптоми
